Common Questions

Can I get too much calcium from food? It is difficult to consume an excess entirely through food, but it is possible with supplements. The tolerable upper intake level is 2,500 mg per day for adults 19-50 and 2,000 mg/day for adults 51 and older, from both food and supplements combined. High-dose supplements, especially when taken without a clear need, have been associated with kidney stones.
